COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Community Engagement

The Refugee Dream Center offers a variety of events designed to bring together members of the Rhode Island refugee community, families, and friends to engage socially with issues pertinent to the community and to forge new friendships and connections with both refugees and non-refugees.

These include:

  • Halloween and Thanksgiving Celebrations
  • Advocacy rallies
  • Film screenings
  • Community engagement days
  • School visits
  • Inaugural Cultural Gala
  • Many other successful events

Evening of Advocacy

Evening of Advocacy is a night hosted by RDC’s Youth Dream Leaders intended to integrate our refugee community with the American community. Hosted by The Moses Brown School, this event emphasizes the relationships between our refugee youth and our youth mentors in a night of cultural performances, storytelling, cultural food, and impactful stories.

World Refugee Day

What is World Refugee Day?
In 2000, the United Nations General Assembly established June 20th as World Refugee Day. Since 2001, people around the world have celebrated the day with events that honor the world’s more than 16 million refugees and raise awareness around refugee issues.

World Refugee Day at Refugee Dream Center is a day filled with celebration, unity, and the vibrant spirit of refugees.

Experience the magic of music as it transcends borders, and be captivated by mesmerizing cultural performances that showcase the rich diversity of our global community. Indulge your taste buds with delicious culinary delights from around the world, representing the flavors and traditions of different cultures. Immerse yourself in the power of storytelling, as courageous individuals share their journeys of resilience and hope. Engage in interactive activities, connect with local organizations, and learn how you can make a difference in the lives of refugees.

This annual event is a testament to our commitment to inclusivity, understanding, and standing in solidarity with refugees worldwide. Together, let’s create an atmosphere of acceptance, appreciation, and support.
