WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT COVID-19

What is Covid-19?

Covid-19 is an infectious disease that spreads through small particles in the nose and mouth (which can be passed to others through breathing).

How do you ensure you don’t get Covid-19?

The best way to prevent the spread of Covid-19 is to get vaccinated (including all the vaccinations in your series and a booster shot: more information below). This is free for everyone in the US regardless of Health Insurance or Citizenship Status. You can get a vaccine at most medical facilities or pharmacies. And everyone over 6 months old is eligible to be vaccinated. To find a vaccine, visit https://www.vaccines.gov/search/.

If you are not vaccinated, it is important to wear a mask indoors and quarantine if you are exposed to Covid-19. Even if you are vaccinated, it is advisable to wear a mask in crowded public indoor spaces such as transportation hubs. This includes buses and trains.

What to do if you get Covid-19 or have symptoms of Covid-19?

If you have symptoms of Covid-19, please get tested.  For free testing information, please visit https://covid.ri.gov/testing. If exposed to Covid-19 wait 5 days to test and wear a mask for 10 days. If you test positive, quarantine in your home.

*** Remember: You can get Covid-19 even if you are vaccinated, and you can spread it. So, be vigilant***
